This past weekend, HSP hosted the U17 teams and U15 teams for their matches against Lonestar SC. The U19s were off this weekend, and the U14 and U13 teams played in Dallas as part of the U.S. Soccer Regional Showcase.
The U17s got to a quick start in their match. After only two minutes of play, Joyner Castillo Mejia put the ball in the net for the first goal of the game. Lonestar countered with two goals in less than 20 minutes. The Dynamo kept up the pressure offensively, and in the second half earned an opportunity to tie the game on a penalty kick. Lonestar’s keeper made a huge save, preserving the lead and securing the win for Lonestar.
Joseph Farouz had a huge day for the U15s. He picked up a hat trick including two goals in the second half as he helped Houston have an offensive explosion against Lonestar. Zacarias Escobar-Bowie began the scoring for the Dynamo with a 19th minute goal. Farouz picked up the only other goal of the first half to give the Dynamo a 2-1 lead into halftime. He, along with Benjamin Alimasi and Alex Oropeza, scored four goals for the Dynamo in the second half as Houston charged to a 6-1 victory.
The action continues this weekend at HSP as Orlando City academy brings their U15s, U17s, and U19s to play their Dynamo counterparts.
