Ryan Coulter Formation Phase Goalkeeping Director

Ryan Coulter joined the Houston Dynamo Academy as the Formation Phase Goalkeeping Director in January 2021. Moving to the Dynamo from USL affiliate RGV Toros, he brings with him experience from a professional playing career in both Ireland and the United States.

Having spent the majority of his playing career in Ireland, he actively sought his qualifications and licensing during this time though the Football Association of Ireland. He was awarded with his UEFA C, as well as UEFA B licenses followed there after by his UEFA B and A Goalkeeping licenses in 2021. Ryan spent 2 seasons coaching with Bray Wanderers FC, in the League Of Ireland Academy system. During this time, he gained experience working with numerous FAI regional development squads, feeding underage talent to the Irish national teams.

Moving back to the USA in 2017, Coulter joined the coaching staff of NCAA D1 UCF in Orlando, where a successful time as assistant coach working with the goalkeepers ensued. Starting Goalkeeper Yannik Oettl, now of New England Revs, garnered goalkeeper of the year as well as a conference championship and NCAA bid. Coulter joined the staff at UCF working under Scott Calabrese, former Head coach from his Collegiate career at East Tennessee State University (2011-2013)

Prior to joining the Dynamo, Coulter coached at the professional level for Two seasons, working in 2019 with the newly established Forward Madison Franchise of USL League 1 before moving to South Texas in 2020 taking up the role of first team goalkeeper coach with the Toros, then affiliate of the Houston Dynamo FC.


Brenton Saylor returns for the 2020-21 season and third season overall with the academy. Saylor also serves as 1st Team Goalkeeper Coach for the Houston Dash of NWSL (Women’s Professional League). Saylor brings 11 years of collegiate experience, most recently with Rice University in which he was part of a program that were Conference USA Champions and received an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.  Saylor was also active in the Olympic Development Programs serving on the Regional Staffs for Region 2 and 3. Brenton is a USSF and NSCAA Licensed Coach and holds his Bachelor’s Degree from Lambuth University and Master’s in Health and Human Performance from the University of Tennessee – Martin.  Saylor was also an All-American at Lambuth University and garnered playing experience in the Premier Development League with the Memphis Express and St. Louis Lions.
